Helios Ventures Conducts AI-Powered Learning Workshop for FHSS Academic Staff
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS), University of Sri Jayewardenepura, hosted a professional development workshop titled Open Agency – AI-Powered Learning for Education, conducted by Helios Ventures (Pvt) Ltd. at the Faculty Board Room for the academic staff of the Faculty.
The workshop provided participants with valuable insights into the rapidly evolving landscape of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its growing role in transforming higher education. Academic staff were introduced to innovative AI-powered learning tools and practical strategies for integrating AI into teaching, learning, assessment, and student engagement.
A key highlight of the programme was the hands-on demonstration on developing customized AI chatbots for educational purposes. Participants learned how to design and build AI-powered chatbots that can support course delivery, provide instant responses to student inquiries, facilitate academic advising, and enhance personalized learning experiences. The session showcased how no-code and low-code AI platforms can enable educators to create intelligent digital assistants tailored to their academic disciplines and teaching requirements.
In addition to chatbot development, the workshop explored the concept of Open Agency, emphasizing how AI can empower educators to create interactive learning resources, automate routine academic tasks, and improve productivity while maintaining high standards of teaching and research.
The resource persons from Helios Ventures (Pvt) Ltd. also introduced opportunities for collaboration in AI-driven educational content development. They highlighted potential avenues through which university academics and students could contribute to AI-assisted content creation projects, fostering stronger links between academia and industry while promoting innovation in digital education.
