Senior Professor Shirantha Heenkenda Dean FHSS Receives Honorary Professorship from Ural State University of Economics

Senior Professor Shirantha Heenkenda, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Sri Jayewardenapura, was awarded an honorary professorship by Ural State University of Economics (USUE) in Yekaterinburg, Russian Federation. The recognition took place during the XVI Eurasia Economics Youth Forum, held on 22 April 2026, at a gathering of Russian and foreign universities.

The honor stems from continuous academic collaboration between the two universities since 2023. Under Professor Heenkenda’s leadership, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences has launched a Professional Diploma in Russian Language, established research collaborations, and organized essay competitions.

Furthermore, both institutions have agreed to expand their academic and research partnerships moving forward.
