Law and University Life: Awareness session for the second-year students
An awareness session was conducted for the second-year students of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences on 08 January 2026 at the Bandaranayake Hall of the University. The session was conducted by Mr. Udayakumara Amarasinghe, Head of the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice and former Proctor of the University. During the session, Mr. Udayakumara explained how students can lead a responsible and meaningful university life, with particular emphasis on the Ragging Act and the legal framework governing student conduct during their stay at the university. He further elaborated on students’ lawful responsibilities and the possible consequences of misconduct, helping students clearly understand the importance of maintaining discipline, respect and accountability within the campus. This session was organized by the Deputy Proctors of the Faculty under the guidance of the Dean of the Faculty.
