FHSS Multidisciplinary Center Awarded International Publication Grant
University of Sri Jayewardenepura’s ICMS Awarded LKR 5 Million Grant by Canadian Agency for Sustainable Development Research The International Center for Multidisciplinary Studies (ICMS), Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS), University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ), has been awarded a LKR 5 million publication grant by the Ontario International Development Agency (OIDA), Canada.
The announcement was made at the 22nd International Conference on Sustainable Development 2025, held at the BMICH, Colombo, where the award was officially presented to Professor T.M.S.P.K. Thennakoon, Director of ICMS.
The three-year grant (2026–2029) will support the publication of 40 research papers in the OIDA International Journal of Sustainable Development (IJSD)—a peer-reviewed, open-access journal indexed in SCOPUS and DOAJ. All submissions will undergo a two-fold anonymous peer-review process, ensuring global academic standards.
A key feature of the award is that it will be fully administered by OIDA, removing any administrative burden from the university and enabling researchers to focus entirely on scholarship.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Neville Hewage, Conference Co-chair and Research Fellow at the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Law, Laurentian University, Canada, highlighted that this grant will significantly strengthen Sri Lanka’s contribution to the global sustainable development agenda.
