Media Delegation from Yunnan University Visits FHSS to Promote Sri Lankan Culture and Tourism
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, recently hosted a distinguished media delegation from the School of Journalism, Yunnan University, China. The team visited Sri Lanka to film a special documentary aimed at promoting Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage, tourism, and academic environment to an international audience. Filming took place at several locations, including universities, to capture both the country’s scenic beauty and its vibrant academic and cultural life.
The delegation was led by prominent academics including Associate Professor Dr. Zuo Xiaolin, Vice Dean of the School of Journalism and an expert in online public opinion and new media communication; Associate Professor Jin Qun, Assistant Dean specializing in news practice, health communication, and international communication; Associate Professor Wei Ping, a specialist in intercultural communication and migration studies; and Chen Ying, Youth League Secretary and Lecturer recognized for her contributions to student affairs management and ideological-political education.
They were accompanied by a group of talented postgraduate and undergraduate students from Yunnan University, who actively contributed to the filming process through photography, videography, and content creation. Their collective efforts are expected to result in a compelling video production that will highlight Sri Lanka’s unique cultural identity and strengthen people-to-people connections between China and Sri Lanka.
This visit marks another milestone in the Faculty’s ongoing commitment to fostering international collaborations and cultural exchange, reinforcing the strong ties between the two nations.
