The DELT assembly

The DELT assembly is a regular event organized by the first-year undergraduates of the Department of English Language Teaching of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, under the guidance of Dr. Madhubhashini Rathnayaka, the coordinator of the first-year English programme.

The event held on 13^th February 2025 featured Ms. Kaushalya Fernando, a distinguished English language teacher and Sri Lankan actress, as the chief guest. She conducted an engaging and interactive session incorporating music and physical activities to enhance personality development skills such as confidence, voice projection and body language. The students actively participated and enjoyed the session, making it a memorable and enriching experience.

The assembly concluded with the class presidents and vice-presidents of the English Language Society (ELS) delivering their speeches, overcoming stage fright and gaining public speaking experience.

The event served as a valuable platform for students to enhance their confidence, communication skills, and sense of community within the English language programme.
