Calling applications for Certificate in English

Applications are now invited to select suitably qualified individuals for the Certificate in English (Intake -14) course conducted by the Department of English Language Teaching of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

Course modules

  • Functional Grammar
  • Language Competency
  • Oral Skills
  • Language through Literature

Lectures and practical sessions will be conducted in blended mode (online and face-to-face where necessary and required) on

    •  Sundays from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm (when face-to-face lectures are conducted)
    •  Sundays from 8.00 am to 03.15 p.m. (when lectures are conducted online)
    •  Duration:  Six months
    •  Course Fee:  Rs.25, 000/- (Full payment must be paid at the time of the registration)

Eligibility

  •  General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) with a minimum of 6 subjects including an ‘S’ pass for English or an equivalent qualification. or
  •  Sit for GEC O/L and certified work experience with a minimum period of three years in a related field. or
  •  Any other qualification specified by the Department and approved by the Senate

Interviews will be held on 3rd April 2022 from 09.00a.m. to 3.00 p.m.

Venue – Board Room, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (Sumangala Mansion)

Commencement of the Course:  8th May 2022
Duly filled application form along with the certified copies of relevant certificates should be emailed to deltcertificate@gmail.com on or before 2nd April 2022 and attend the interview on 3rd April.

The following documents should be brought for the interview on 3rd April 2022

  • Duly filled application form
  • Relevant certificates and two passport size colour photographs
  • Deposit slip for application fee of Rs.300/=.  Paid to the Account No. 013010001306 at any branch of the People’s Bank.
  • Three self-addressed 9” X 4”size stamped (Rs. 45/-) envelopes.
