A meeting was held on 21.11.2022 amid Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura to discuss the possibilities of implementation of the National Action Plan for combatting bribery and corruption in Sri Lanka with the support of the university community.
According to the suggestions that emerged in the discussion, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura on 20th February 2023 based on the “World day of Social Justice”. The event took place at the Main Auditorium, CIABOC, in the presence of the Chairperson Hon. Justice Eva Wanasundera, Commissioner II Hon. Justice Deepali Wijesundera, Commissioner III, Mr. Chandra Nimal Wakishta, and the Director General Mr. W.K.D. Wijeratne.
Professor Upul Subasinghe, Vice Chancellor (Acting) of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Professor Shirantha Heenkenda, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Dr. Shantha Gamlath, from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, represented the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in this occasion. According to this MOU, CIABOC will organize a series of events and activities in collaboration with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, to ensure and promote integrity within the university community. The main focus of the MOU is to increase youth’s awareness in corruption issues, generate community responsibility amongst youth in the university system, and ensure and promote the highest level of integrity in the university community.
