Faculty Publication Day 2022 organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura to recognize and appreciate the academics and non-academic staff members as well as the students of the faculty who made publications in the year 2020 and 2021 was successfully held on 29th September 2022 at the Sumangala auditorium of the University under the patronage of the vice-chancellor, Snr. Prof. Sudantha Liyanage and the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Shirantha Heenkenda.
Parallel to the Faculty Publication Day, the following events were also organized. • Dean’s Honors List that recognizes the highest level of academic excellence demonstrated by students of the faculty was one such event that took place on the Faculty Publication Day. Accordingly, academically outstanding students of the faculty who received the Dean’s Honors List received their certificates at the Faculty Publication Day ceremony. • The recipients of the certificate for the Multiple Intelligence Challenge (MIC) 2022 organized by the Center for Digital Education and Professional Development (CDEPD) received their certificates at the Faculty Publication Day ceremony. • The recipients of the Subasha, Sinhala Language Competition organized by the CDEPD and the Department of Sinhala and Mass Communication of the faculty also received their certificates on the Faculty Publication Day. • In addition to the academics and students of the faculty, non-academic members of the faculty too received certificates for their continuous support, commitment and dedication to the development of the faculty. • The Audio Book Library E-Service (ABLE) is yet another project organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS) aiming at providing equal educational access to all the visually impaired personnel to gain knowledge in any selected area of their choice in spite of their visual impairedness. The launch of the ABLE project took place in parallel to the Faculty Publication Day thus enabling the entire visually impaired community in Sri Lanka to access the service. • Seven books written by the lecturers of the Department of English Language Teaching of the faculty in collaboration with the University of York and the University of Central Lancashire, United Kingdom were also launched on the Faculty Publication Day held on 29th September 2022. • Finally, the Faculty Publication Day 2022 ended with a musical evening where the academic staff members as well as the students of the Department of Music and Creative Technology of the faculty entertained the audience with their talents and skills.
