International Museum Day 2019 and Special Lecture on ‘Scientific Advancement and Archaeological Future’

IMD (International Museum Day) is a global day celebration that takes place annually around or on 18 May. ICOM (International Council of Museums) coordinates this event. The event always highlights a theme that keeps changing each year that’s at the heart of the preoccupations of the international museum community. The International Museum Day gives the chance for professionals of museums to meet people and inform them about the challenges museums face.

Every year, museums from all over the world are invited to take part in the International Museum Day to promote museums’ role worldwide, creating unique, free and fun activities around a theme that is discussed within the community of the International Council of Museums specifically for this special day. Participation in International Museum Day is growing among museums all over the world. In 2018, more than 40,000 museums participated in the event in some 158 countries.

The poster is published for the International museum day in 2019. The theme is “Museum as Cultural Hubs: The Future of Tradition”.

Concurrently to International Museum Day, the special lecture on “Scientific advancement and archaeological future”, organized by the Department of History & Archaeology and the subsidiary Archaeology museum of Faculty of Humanities and Social sciences in collaboration with Zoology museum, Department of Zoology of Faculty of Applied Science will be held on 13th June 2019 at the Reading Hall of the Sumangala building from 1 pm to 3 pm.

Visitors are invited to visit Archaeological Museum of the Department of History & Archaeology and Zoological Museum of the Department of Zoology to get experience about museum objects.
