The Students’ Association of the Department of Social Statistics proudly presented the Magazine Launch and Musical Evening event on 05th October 2023 at the Sri Sumanagala Auditorium. During the event, Sankhayana Saraniya magazine, a collection of scholarly and creative works by the Department’s students was officially launched. Moreover, award-winning Sinhala Novelist Mr. Mohan Raj Madawela and award-winning Sinhala Lyricist and Professor of Anthropology of the Department of Anthropology, Prof. Praneeth Abeysundara delivered speeches on Art, Aesthetic Aspiration, and Education during the event. Prof. Shirantha Heenkenda, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Dr. (Ms.) Thanuja Silva, Head of the Department of Social Statistics, and academic staff members of the Department joined the gathering.
In parallel to the event, students of the Department demonstrated their skills in music and dancing while presenting heart-touching songs to the audience. The Image I Studio and Elephant House joined the event as sponsors while the Isimaga I TV covered the event as the official media sponsor. The event, without a doubt, was one of the greatest experiences that the department community had as a result of the collective effort of the students.
