The Department of History and Archaeology organizes a field visit for the BA (External) Degree students to Ibbankatuwa, Dambulla and Sigiriya

With the objective of offering the real spirit of following subjects pertinent to History and Archaeology fields, the Department of History and Archaeology of the USJ organized a two-day visit to the archaeological sites of Ibbankatuwa, Dambulla, and Sigiriya for the BA (External) Degree students, who are following History and Archaeology subjects, on the 10th and 11th of November 2023.

The academic staff members of the department, including the Head of the Department, Senior Lect. (Ven.) Dambara Amila, Prof. Karunasena Hettiarachchi, Prof. Alexander Kapukotuwa and Senior Lect. (Dr.) Oshan Wedage, participated in this visit with 165+ students, providing them with a comprehensive understanding of the Ibbankatuwa, Dambulla, and Sigiriya archaeological sites, which covered a wide range of monuments and sites from protohistoric to late Kandyan period interventions.
