As discussed during the department meeting, the Department of History and Archaeology conducted a department-level awareness session for the newly selected students for the History and Archaeology (Honours) Degree programs on 03rd of January 2024, at Prof. Mendis Rohanadheera Hall of the department.
Under the guidance of the Head of the Department, Sen. Lect. (Ven.) Dambara Amila, Sen. Lect. (Mrs.) U.N.K. Rathnayaka was the resource person for this awareness session based on her teaching experience and the faculty-level involvement in this regard. Accordingly, the awareness session covered an explanation of the course units and syllabuses of each degree program, the selection of elective course units, medals and awards received in recognition of the highest academic excellence performed for each degree program, benefits received after following the two degree programs, and a further introduction to the Department of History and Archaeology.
The Department of History and Archaeology believes that this nature of awareness programs would encourage students to make better selections while enhancing the quality of the undergraduates produced by the department. The awareness session was followed up with a feedback collection from the participating students, which resulted with positive reactions.
