Prof. Asha Nimali Fernando delivers a Guest lecture for the undergraduates of the Department of History and Archaeology

‘Research ethics’ provides guidelines for the responsible conduct of research. In addition, it educates and monitors researchers conducting research to ensure a high ethical standard. Having the intention of growing up our research buds with higher standards, the Department of History and Archaeology identified the need to make undergraduates aware of the importance of research ethics. Accordingly, upon the invitation of the Department of History and Archaeology, Prof. Asha Nimali Fernando of the Department of Philosophy and Psychology, USJ, delivered a Guest lecture on ‘Research Ethics’, on the 18th of October 2023, from 1.00 pm, at Prof. Mendis Rohanadheera Hall of the department.

Upon the coordination of Prof. M.A.S.R.S. Manthrirathna, Prof. Asha Nimali Fernando discussed the need and importance of research ethics in areas of Humanities and Social Sciences, current trends, and the related processes and procedures upon her own experience in the academic research field for decades.

On behalf of the staff and the students, the Department of History and Archaeology would like to extend sincere thanks to Prof. Asha Nimali Fernando of the Department of Philosophy and Psychology for sharing her valuable insights with our undergraduates to enhance the quality of the growing research buds of our department.
