‘Sneha Dayada-2023’, the History and Archaeology Students Association makes a generous donation to the Apeksha Hospital, Maharagama

Demonstrating the social responsibility of the department and the strength of the Sri Lankan community in supporting the national health mission, the Students Association of the Department of History and Archaeology, USJ, successfully hosted ‘Sneha Dayada-2023’, a donation project to provide essential goods for 40 cancer patients and necessities for child patients, on 26th of August 2023, at the Apeksha Hospital, Maharagama.

The Student Association was able to solicit financial and material donations for this initiative from university students, university personnel, the general public, and kind sponsor organizations, in collaboration with the efforts of the department’s academic and non-academic staff. In addition to providing essentials to the hospital, the students put their effort into cleaning the hospital wards as well. Furthermore, a refreshment session along with a few entertainment items had also been planned by the students, considering the patients’ mental health, followed by gifting presents to child patients.

The History and Archaeology Students Association would like to sincerely express its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who generously contributed in both word and deed to the success of this project.
