Japura Economics Students’ Summit (JESS) 2026

The Economics Association of the Department of Economics, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, successfully organized the Japura Economics Students’ Summit 2026 (JESS 2026) on 21 August 2026 at the Department of Economics.

JESS is an annual academic initiative dedicated to promoting undergraduate research, scholarly dialogue, knowledge sharing, and academic excellence. The summit provides a valuable platform for young researchers to present their research findings, exchange ideas, receive constructive feedback, and engage in meaningful academic discussions.

The event was graced by Professor Gamini Weerasinghe, Head of the Department of Economics, together with members of the academic staff. Their participation and academic guidance contributed significantly to creating an engaging and intellectually stimulating environment for the student researchers.

As part of the Department’s continued commitment to encouraging high-quality undergraduate research, the most outstanding research papers presented at JESS 2026 will be selected for publication in the Department of Economics Working Paper Series.

JESS 2026 reflects the Department’s ongoing commitment to nurturing a strong research culture among undergraduates and encouraging the next generation of economists to contribute to academic and policy discussions through rigorous economic research.
