Department of Economics Celebrates the Opening of Its Renovated Premises
The Department of Economics officially reopened its newly renovated premises on 15 July 2026, marking an important milestone in enhancing the department’s teaching and learning environment. The renovation project included the refurbishment of the department office and lecture rooms, providing improved facilities for both students and staff.
The opening ceremony was graced by Senior Professor Shirantha Heenkenda, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Professor Gamini Weerasinghe, Head of the Department of Economics along with members of the academic staff of the faculty.
The ceremony commenced with the chanting of Pirith by the Venerable Maha Sangha, invoking blessings for the Department and its future endeavours. The event concluded with the official opening of the renovated premises and fellowship among the attendees.
