On 29th March 2023, the Department of Languages, Cultural Studies and Performing Arts at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura held a guest lecture event for French students. The event featured two guest speakers, Mr. Bruno Duparc, the Director of Alliance française de Colombo, and Mr. Thomas Bellil, Attaché for Cooperation and Education at the Embassy of France in Sri Lanka and Maldives. First they discussed the possibility of academic coooperation between France and Sri Lanka with the Dean of the Faculty, Prof.Shirantha Heenkenda. This event was initiated by Mrs. Irosha Chandrasekera, Senior Lecturer in French and was moderated by Ms. Charitha Liyanage, Lecturer in French.
The topics discussed during the event were `La Francophonie` and `Découverte de l’enseignement supérieur en France`. The speakers provided valuable insights and information about the French language, culture, and Higher Education system in France. The event aimed to promote cultural exchange and enhance the students’ knowledge and understanding of French language and culture.
The event was held at the Faculty Board Room, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. It provided an excellent opportunity for French students to interact with experts in the field and expand their knowledge of the French language and culture.
