The Department of Economics at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura is delighted to announce the successful collaboration with the Hector Kobbekwaduwa Agrarian Research and Training Institute (HARTI) for an insightful seminar on the food supply chain in Sri Lanka. The event took place on February 9, 2024, and proved to be a valuable learning experience for all participants.
The seminar gave a thorough examination of the intricacies and patterns in Sri Lanka’s food supply chain, with Dr. N.P.G. Samantha, Additional Director at HARTI, and Mrs. Jayamini Champika, Senior Research Officer, serving as the speakers. Participants gained valuable insights into the dynamics shaping the nation’s agricultural landscape and the implications for economic development.
Academic staff from the Department of Economics as well as undergraduates enrolled in the BA Honours in Financial Economics Degree program attended the seminar. This interdisciplinary engagement facilitated rich discussions and fostered a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
