Department of Economics Welcomes Second International Intake of Master of Economics Degree Program

The Department of Economics of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura ceremonially welcomed the second international intake of the Master of Economics program on 4th August 2025 at the Sri Sumangala Auditorium. The event was graced by Senior Professor Shirantha Heenkenda, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; Professor Rasika Perera, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies; Dr. Ruvini Dharmawardene, Director of the International Affairs Division; and Professor B. W. R. Damayanthi, Chairperson of the Board of Social Sciences. The ceremony marked the formal commencement of the academic journey for the new cohort of international students. Academic staff, academic support staff, and students participated in the event, which featured a traditional welcome and academic briefings, allowing students to engage with faculty and peers. The Master of Economics degree program, administered by the Faculty of Graduate Studies, aims to provide advanced training in economics from a global perspective—enhancing students’ analytical skills and capacity for effective policy-making.
