On February 16th, 2024, the Department of Economics organized an on-site seminar in collaboration with the esteemed Department of Census and Statistics of Sri Lanka. The academic staff and second-year undergraduates from the BA Honours in Economics and BA Honours in Financial Economics Degree Programs attended this event, which turned out to be enlightening for everyone. The seminar centered around two pivotal surveys crucial to understanding Sri Lanka’s economic landscape: the Household Income and Expenditure Survey and the Labor Force Survey. Through an insightful collaboration between our department and the Department of Census and Statistics, attendees were treated to a comprehensive overview of these surveys, shedding light on vital aspects of the nation’s economic dynamics.
