“Ranrasu Prathibha Abhinandana Kala Mangalyaya” is a celebratory event organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. It is scheduled to take place on the 1st of April 2025 at 5:30 p.m. at the Bandaranayake Hall, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
An inter-departmental Dance, Music, and Art competition was organized in conjunction with RANRASU 2025 to showcase and celebrate the creative talents of students. The final round of the dance and music competitions will take place during the concluding event, Ranrasu Prathibha Abhinandana Kala Mangalyaya 2025.
The first round of the dance and music competition was held on the 5th of March, while the art competition took place on the 18th of March. During the preliminary round of the dance and music competitions, participating teams, from 14 departments of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, competed for a place in the grand finale. Seven departments from each category were selected to perform at the final event, scheduled for the 1st of April. This competition provides an excellent platform for students with exceptional talents in dance, music and Art, offering them the opportunity to showcase their skills and passion.
“Ranrasu Prathibha Abhinandana Kala Mangalyaya” will also include an awarding ceremony and the launch of five original songs, written and composed by undergraduates of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, as part of the song competition held in 2023. In addition, the awarding ceremony for the Heritage plus Short Video Competition—an inter-university short video contest organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences will take place during the event. A special performance by first-year students from the Department of English Language Teaching, along with honors degree candidates in Dance and Music, will bring vibrant energy and creativity to the celebration. All competitions and the final festival are organized by the Cultural Committee of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
In 2025, the festival is set to feature an Inter-departmental dance and music competition under the theme ‘Sri Lankan Heritage,’ along with an art competition. This competition provides an excellent platform for students with exceptional talents in dance, music and art to showcase their skills and passion. Students from 15 different disciplines within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences will actively participate in the event.
The Dance and Music competition consists of two phases. The first round is scheduled for May 5th, where participating teams will compete for a spot in the final event. fourteen groups from both the dance and music categories will be selected to perform at the grand finale, which will take place on April 1st, 2025, at Bandaranayaka Hall, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Undergraduates of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, excluding first-year students and honors degree candidates in Dance and Music, are eligible to participate in this competition.

The final awards ceremony for the Inter-University Video Competition, organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in 2024, will also take place during the RANRASU festival. The event will feature 15 finalists from 10 different universities across Sri Lanka.
