The Department of English offers two Bachelor of Arts degree programmes related to English, while currently holding the Bachelor of Science in Information and Communication Technology (Special) Degree programme under its administration.

The Bachelor of Arts in English (BA in English): General and Special Degree programmes

This offers the students the opportunity of reading for a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. First , students are admitted to the general degree programme. If they meet the required entry criteria for the special degree (specified under Qualifying requirements) after their first year examination, they will be able to follow the special degree in English. Those who do not meet the entry criteria for the special degree can read for the general degree programme.

The Bachelor of Arts (Special) in Teaching English as a Second Language (BA in TESL)

This is only offered as a special degree. However, students who fail to meet the entry criteria to follow the TESL degree after their first year examination have the opportunity to read for the B.A in English general degree.

The Bachelor of Science (Special) in Information and Communication Technology (BSc in ICT)

This is offered to the students of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and it focuses on imparting to the students the required knowledge and skills in enhancing their employability in the domains of computer studies. Hence the program offers the ICT subjects with industrial training to orient them towards a professional career in the competitive job market.
