Welcome to the Alumni Association of the Department of English and Linguistics (AADEL) of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. It is a privilege to have attended, pursued English for BA Degrees, and be called alumni of the AADEL!
The Department of English and Linguistics (formerly known as the Department of English) is one of the outstanding departments of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. It is dedicated to the education of English Literature, English Language, Linguistics, and Teaching English as a Second Language.
By August 2018, the Department has taken initiatives to set up an alumni association with a view to creating a strong and healthy nexus with the past students who have read English from the Department; BA in (Special/Honours) English, BA in TESL, English as a main subject or as a subsidiary subject for the degree. The Alumni Association of the Department of English and Linguistics (AADEL)is a membership-driven organization which expects to offer members a variety of ways to stay connected and to explore opportunities for building a dynamic space to maintain a vital presence of the Department in their lives.
The mission of the Student Alumni Association is to bring together the alumni (graduates who have pursued BA [honours] in English, English as a main subject, or as a subsidiary subject) to provide invaluable, inspiring and thought-provoking experiences for personal as well as professional and career development. The mission of this association also includes fostering and enabling the development of close relationships and strong bonds among its members.
The vision of the Student Alumni Association is to build a tradition of alumni and student networking programmes and to continue them for the purposes of promoting the objectives of the association.
