Activities

To achieve these objectives, the VCW will:
1. Track and compile contributions and biographic details of historical and contemporary women intellectuals and thinkers.
2. Conduct workshops, seminars, and short courses on ‘studying women intellectuals and thinkers in Ceylon’.
3. Carry out research and encourage undergraduates and postgraduates to study women epistemology in Ceylon, offering scholarships and research grants.
4. Recognize ‘women epistemology’ through a digital database, web platform, YouTube channel, and documentaries.
5. Organize international conferences on ‘women epistemology in Ceylon’.
Partner with similar regional and international organizations for exchange programs, joint research, and knowledge sharing.
6. Identify and address key issues using the expertise of current Ceylonese women epistemology.

Guest Lecture on Empowering Women Educators at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

The Centre for Sri Lankan Women Thinkers and Scientists, affiliated with the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, successfully hosted a guest lecture on September 2, 2025, at Wimaladamma Mansion. The event was organized with the aim of empowering women educators and exploring innovative approaches to teaching and learning in the digital era.

The program featured two distinguished international speakers:


  • Dr. Arpita Kathane
    , who delivered an engaging session on “Design Thinking for Women Educators,” highlighted creative methodologies to enhance pedagogy and inspire innovation in classrooms.


  • Dr. T.S. Sanjayan,
    who spoke on “Teaching Beyond Classrooms: Empowering Women Educators in the AI Era,” emphasized the transformative role of artificial intelligence and technology in shaping the future of education.

The event, held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., provided participants with the opportunity to engage with thought-provoking ideas, interact with experts, and share perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing educators today.
Organized by the Centre for Sri Lankan Women Thinkers and Scientists, the program reflected the university’s commitment to promoting innovation, inclusivity, and leadership in education.
