Anthropology Day 2026

රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ මානව විද්‍යා අධ්‍යයනාංශය විසින් සංවිධානය කරන ලද 2026 මානව විද්‍යා දිනය ජූලි මස 21 වැනි දින පෙරවරු 9:00 සිට විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ශ්‍රී සුමංගල සභා සදයේ දී උත්සවාකාරයෙන් පැවැත්වුණි. මෙම වැඩසටහනේ ප්‍රධානත්වය දරන ලද්දේ ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ උපකුලපති ජ්‍යේෂ්ඨ මහාචාර්ය පත්මලාල් එම්. මානගේ මහතා සහ මානවශාස්ත්‍ර හා සමාජීයවිද්‍යා පීඨයේ පීඨාධිපති ජ්‍යේෂ්ඨ මහාචාර්ය ශිරාන්ත හීන්කෙන්ද මහතා විසිනි. 2026 මානව විද්‍යා දිනය ආරාධිත දේශන ත්‍රිත්වයකින්, විද්වත් අදහස් දැක්වීම්වලින් සහ මානව විද්‍යා විද්‍යාර්ථීන්ගේ නර්තන හා ගායන අංගවලින් සමන්විත විය. මානව විද්‍යා සඟරාවේ නව වන කලාපය: සම්මානිත මහාචාර්ය ටෙනිසන් පෙරේරා අභිනන්දන කලාපය මැයෙන් මෙදින ම එළිදැක්වුණි. මෙදින ආරාධිත දේශන පැවැත්වූයේ මානව විද්‍යා අධ්‍යයනාංශයේ විශ්‍රාමික මහාචාර්ය කලාසූරී ආචාර්ය ප්‍රණීත් අභයසුන්දර, කැලණිය විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ජ්‍යේෂ්ඨ මහාචාර්ය අනුර මනතුංග සහ කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ජ්‍යේෂ්ඨ කථිකාචාර්ය ආචාර්ය ක්‍රිශාන්ත ෆ්‍රෙඩ්රික්ස් යන මහත්වරුන් විසිනි. ශ්‍රී ලංකා ජාතික කෞතුකාගාරයේ අධ්‍යක්ෂ සනූජා කස්තුරිආරච්චි මහත්මිය විසින් විද්වත් අදහස් දැක්වීමක් සිදු කරනු ලැබී ය. මානව කලාව මැයෙන් විද්‍යාර්ථීන් විසින් සංගෘහිත සඟරාව ද විද්‍යුත් ප්‍රකාශනයක් ලෙස එළිදැක්වීම ද එදින සිදු විය. සාරාර්ථ වීමංසා මැයෙන් මානව විද්‍යා දිනයට සමගාමීව සංවිධානය කරන ලද අන්තර් පාඨශාලයීය රචනා තරගයේ ජයග්‍රාහකයන් උදෙසා ත්‍යාග සහ පදක්කම් පිරිනැමීම ද මෙදින සිදු වූ තවත් සුවිශේෂී කාර්යයකි. විශ්වවිද්‍යාල ආචාර්යවරුන්, පර්යේෂකයන්, මාධ්‍යවේදීන්, සිසුන් ඇතුළු විශාල පිරිසක් මෙම වැඩසටහන සඳහා සම්බන්ධ වුණු අතර මානව විද්‍යාවේ ශාස්ත්‍රීය වටිනාකම සමාජගත කිරීමෙහි ලා එය පෘථුල මට්ටමින් දායක විය.
The 2026 Anthropology Day, organized by the Department of Humanities at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, was held on 21st July 2026 at 9:00 a.m. in the Sri Sumangala Auditorium of the University. The programme was graced by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Senior Professor Pathmalal M. Manage and the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Senior Professor Shirantha Heenkenda. The 2026 Anthropology Day featured a series of guest lectures, scholarly commentaries and dance and musical performances by anthropology students. On the same day, the 09th issue of the Anthropology Journal, titled Professor Tennyson Perera Felicitation Issue, was officially launched. The guest lectures were delivered by Dr. Praneeth Abhayasundara, Retired Professor of the Department of Anthropology, Senior Professor Anura Manatunga, University of Kelaniya and Dr. Krishantha Fredericks, University of Colombo. Ms. Sanuja Kasthuriarachchi, Director of the National Museum of Sri Lanka also delivered an insightful speech. The students also launched an e-magazine titled Manawa Kalawa during the event. Another highlight of the programme was the presentation of prizes and medals to the winners of the inter-school essay competition, Sarartha Vimansa, which was organized in conjunction with Anthropology Day. The event was attended by university academics, researchers, journalists, undergraduates and school students. It made a significant contribution to promoting public awareness of the academic value and social relevance of anthropology.
