12th National Conference on Pali and Buddhist Studies 2016, organised by the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, was held on 23rd December at Sumangala Reading Hall.
Key note speaker of the conference was Ven. Dr. Deniyaye Pannaloka Thero from the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies, University of Kelaniya. Ven. Butawatte Saranankara Thero, Chief Prelate of Senthul Buddhist Vihara, in Malaysia, participated to the conference as the chief guest. Prof. Sampath Amaratunge, Vice chancellor of the University, Dr. D.P.S. Chandrakumara, Dean Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Surangi Yasawardene, Dean Faculty of Medical Sciences and Prof. B. Mandawala, Dean Faculty of Technology participated to the 12th conference which was organised by the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Ven. Prof Medagoda Abhayathissa Thero was the conference chair and Ven . Dr. Panahaduwe Yasassi Thero was the secretary of the 12th conference. Research papers on Various themes under Pali and Buddhist studies were presented by academics participates from National and International Universities and Institutes on the conference day.
