Workshop on “Writing a Research Abstract” was held 28th December at Anatomy Auditorium. It was organised concurrently to the Vidyodaya Undergraduate Research Day which is to be taken place on March 2016, mainly targeting the undergraduates of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Prior to the Research Day this workshop was organised by the Organizing Committee members in order to provide academic writing skills and practice to the undergraduates of the Faculty.
In the Inauguration ceremony former Vice Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Prof. Chandima Wijebandara discussed the Impotence of Publishing Research Abstract to the students, participated from the both fields of Humanities and Social Sciences. Prof. Charmalie Nahallage explained the Objectives of Publishing Research Abstract to the undergraduates. Dr. D. P. S. Chandrakumara Dean of the Faculty mentioned the Inevitability of Conducting Research as beginners.
Following the inauguration ceremony students from the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences separately participated to their workshops. Former Vice Chancellor Prof. Chandima Wijebandara continued the workshop to the students represented the field of Humanities and Dr. Shantha Wijesinghe carried out the lecture on Writing a Research Abstract to the students participated from the field of Social Sciences.
Dr. Wasantha Mendis, Dr. Neranji Wejewardana and the committee members of the Vidudaya Undergraduate Research Day which has organised to be held on March 2016 organised the workshop as a initiation to the Research Day .
