The Archaeology Museum of the Department of History and Archaeology of the USJ would like to thank and appreciate Mr. H.P.B. Somasiri and his family from Dodanduwa, Galle, for his thoughtful and generous donation of 28 artifacts to the Archaeology Museum, which they inherited from their ancestors. The aforesaid artifacts, such as porcelain objects, glass bottles, copper, and clay objects, seemingly belong to the colonial and post-colonial periods of Sri Lanka, and the donating family expects the objects to be securely exhibited and used for research purposes of academia.
Under the coordination of the Head of the Department, Sen. Lect. (Ven.) Dambara Amila and Prof. Karunasena Hettiarachchi of the Department of History and Archaeology, the Curator of the Museum, Mrs. Nilmini Netthasinghe, Sen. Lect. (Dr.) Oshan Wedage of the same department and Isuru Kodithuwakku, the 4th year undergraduate who made contact with the donating family during his undergraduate research dissertation, participated in this artifact donation event on 24th July 2023.
