The renovation project included the refurbishment of the department office and lecture rooms, providing improved facilities for both students and staff.<br>The opening ceremony was graced by Senior Professor Shirantha Heenkenda, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Professor Gamini Weerasinghe, Head of the Department of Economics along with members of the academic staff of the faculty.<br>The ceremony commenced with the chanting of Pirith by the Venerable Maha Sangha, invoking blessings for the Department and its future endeavours.
