The 106th memorial commemorating the forefather of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura: Thripitaka Vaagishwaracharya, Mahopadhyaya Pandithashiromani most venerable reverend Hikkaduwe Sri Sumangala Thero, was held on the 2nd May 2017 from 8.30 a.m. onwards at the vicinity of the shrine room of the university.
Ven. Prof. Medagoda Abhayatissa thero from the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies shared the memorial message at this ceremony which was graced by Prof. Sampath Amaratunge, Vice Chancellor of the University and many others represented both the academia and the student community of the university. At the memorial ceremony Main library of the University was entitled as “Ven. Madagoda Sumanathissa Memorial Library” as well as new sign-boards for library each sections were elicited.
