The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS) of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura has broadened its approach to undergraduate training with a view to provide the students with transferable soft skills and leadership training in different ways. Under the curricular review process, the components such as the credits structure, teaching and learning techniques, and training have been redesigned and improved to develop various skills of the students. At the same time, an internship program has been introduced into this process. The department intends to provide students with the opportunity to get internship experience in subject-related activities in public, private, non-governmental and voluntary organizations in Sri Lanka. This internship program is a significant component of the graduate training package. All these attempts have focused on transforming undergraduates into valuable human capital to meet the demand in the job market.
