On 28th May 2022, the inauguration ceremony of the Diploma in Economics & Information Technology offered by the Department of Economics in collaboration with the Department of Information & Communication Technology of Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences in the University of Sri Jayewardenepura was happened at Sumangala Auditorium of the faculty. This diploma is known for their groundbreaking initiatives in the education sector and the it is one of the innovative initiatives which marks a significant contribution to the Sri Lankan economy by up skilling business professionals in couple of most demanding fields namely Economics & Information Technology. The inauguration ceremony was happened from 9 AM onwards.
The inauguration was graced by Prof. Shirantha Heenkenda, Dean-Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences as the guest of honour, and Prof. (Mrs.) B.W.R.Damayanthi, Head of the Department of Economics, Academic staff members of the Department of Economics and Department of Information & Communication Technology and the selected candidates of the Diploma in 2022 batch participated in this inauguration ceremony.
