Happy Vesak!

In an era where mother nature has punished her own kids for their own ingratitude, Vesak season has sprinkled its holy waves to wash their sins away. Buddhists celebrate Vesak Festival basically reminiscing the three auspicious milestones of Lord Buddha, the birth, the enlightenment and the death (parinirwana) of Gauthama Buddha. Buddhist devotees generally engage in meritorious deeds such as observing sil, giving dansal and offering light to Lord Buddha making lanterns. People are very enthusiastic in assembling and fabricating Vesak lanterns colourfully. But today people are not even allowed to keep a step out of their domiciles due to the disastrous hazard of Corona. According to Lord Buddha’s teachings,in the case of a defiled mind ,suffering will follow just as a wheel of a cart follows the footsteps of the ox pulling it. This is mentioned in “Manōpubbangama Dhamma”, in Dhammapada verses 1 and 2. This is the best lesson of this Vesak we have to eliminate.

“Mother Nature, pardon us for our ingratitude.
Yes we harmed you across latitude
We won’t hurt you to gain
Let us be together again

Happy Vesak!
