Postgraduate Diploma in Criminology and Criminal Justice

Description: This program has been designed to open avenues for higher degrees such as M.A., M.Phil. and Ph.D. for graduates in any field of study. Also, the criminological knowledge gained from this course will enable the successful candidates to enhance their professional

Medium: English/ Sinhala  (Lecture will be held on Saturday from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.)

Duration: One year

Entry Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and a selection interview. Preference will be given to the graduate employees of the Police, Prisons, Excise, Armed Forces, Judicial Service and in other related fields.

Course requirements:
Candidates are required to complete the following 8 course units:
DCC 101 –  Theories.and Concepts of Criminology and Criminal Justice,
DOC 102 –  Research Methods in Criminology and Criminal Justice (Qualitative & Quantitative),
DCC 103 –  Crime Prevention and Crime Control (The Role of the Police and the Prisons),
DCC 104 – Criminal Law and Human Rights,
DCC 105 –  Counseling and Conflict Resolution,
DCC 106 –  Buddhist Jurisprudence (The Theme of Crime and Punishment) and Forensic Science and Forensic Medicine Submission of an Independent Project   Report not exceeding 10,000 words.
DCC 107 –  Geographic Information System and Crime in Sri Lanka
DCC 108 –  Human Resource Management for Justice Administration
