Anthropology Honors Students Awarded with “Kulatilake Scholarships” for the Year 2022

The Department of Anthropology initiated a scholarship program to assist Anthropology Honors Students during the COVOD 19 Pandemic in the year 2021. As the 1st phase of this scholarship program, 7 selected students of the department were awarded scholarships with the financial support of Prof. Samanthi Kulatilake of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Mount Royal University of Canada. These scholarships were awarded to 7 students from June 2021 to December 2021.

Under the 2nd phase of the scholarship program, for the year 2022, another 7 anthropology honors students were selected to award the “Kulatilake Scholarship for Anthropology Honors Students” by the Department of Anthropology.

The Department of Anthropology extends its appreciation to Prof. Samanthi Kulatilake and her family for the financial support provided for these scholarships for the year 2022 as well.

Awarding ceremony of the “Kulatilake Scholarship for Anthropology Honors Students” was held on 20th January 2022 at the Faculty Board Room of the FHSS. The president and the Secretary of the Anthropology Circle were awarded the scholarships symbolizing the selected students for scholarships for the year 2022.

This event was graced by Prof. Shirantha Heenkenda; Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Praneeth Abhayasundara; Head of the Department of Anthropology, and Prof. Samanthi Kulatilake.

In addition, Prof. Charmalie Nahallage, Prof. Sepala Samarasekara, Prof. Jayantha Jayasiri, Dr. Nelum Kanthilatha of the Department of Anthropology, Mrs. Samantha Geeganage; Assistant Registrar of the Faculty, Mrs. Lalani Priyanthika; Assistant Bursar of the faculty and assistant lecturers of the department were among the participants.
